Pattern: BurdaStyle’s Knotted Midi Dress #101 01/2018
Modification: I didn’t really do any modifications to this dress pattern, and pretty much sewed it as it. Although I did slightly bring up the hemline – as I have to do with most of my dress projects. And I also omitted the need for a center back invisible zipper since my fabric was so stretchy I could easily slide on and off my dress and didn’t sew in the neck facing. I instead finished off the neckline edges with my overstitch machine.
Fabric: Black cotton knit from King Textiles in downtown Toronto. Funny enough this fabric was crazy on sale so I picked up a bunch of it – and I asked why it said “as is”, and apparently there was a slight discoloration and the owner didn’t thing it was black enough. It was good for me!
Notes: I saw so many sewists make this pattern from the 01/2018 issue and I knew I had to make one for myself. It was also part of my #burdachallenge2018 where I vowed to sew up at least one additional garment to my Mash Up.
Beautiful. I want to make the top version, but am having trouble understanding the twist bit in the front. The instructions in the book are a bit confusing. I am so glad it works without the zip in stretch fabric (one less thing for me to have to do). I would appreciate it if there was some way to see how it is done. Thank you, regards Brigetta Wilmot (Avid burdastyle collector and sewer since 1995 – Yes I still have some books from that long ago)
