Banana Leaf Matching Set

Pattern: BurdaStyle’s Bustier Crop Top 06/2016 #114 & Utility Pants 03/2019 #102

Modification: For the crop top I ended up eliminated the center back panel and instead adding in a wide strip of elastic as a pop of contrast and to also compliment the exposed zipper. The zipper was originally at one of the side seams, but I shifted it over to the back instead. For the culottes I shortened the hem length as all as added a cuff. My modifications and sewing process can be seen here.

Fabric: I knew I wanted a banana leaf printed linen, and I found the perfect one at Leo’s Textiles in the Toronto fabric district – but there was only a little bit left! As Tim Gunn would say, “Make it work”.

Notes: This set is cute that I’m just saving it for an extra special occasion to wear it to, and I’m thinking it will be a perfect party outfit for my Bachelorette weekend. This pants pattern has also become my favorite bottoms pattern currently and I have already made a couple more variations of these pants which I rarely do.
